The Effective Director Programme

Dr Peter Crow is an independent director, advisor and educator best known for his expertise in corporate governance, strategy, and board craft and his extensive record of helping boards govern with impact.

He has served on the boards of over twenty private companies, family businesses and social enterprises; advised hundreds of boards, chairs, institutions, and governments; and taught on post-graduate and director development courses. He also speaks and writes on topical issues. A dynamic and outcomes-oriented thinker with broad sector knowledge and real-world experience, his insightful contributions have proved invaluable to the fortunes of enterprises across five continents.

Peter holds a doctorate in corporate governance and strategy, a first in technology and management, and is a chartered member of the Institute of Directors. He lives in New Zealand but works globally.

Peter is the Governance Facilitator for our 3-Day Effective Director Programme.

Bill is currently a self-employed business consultant and company Director. He currently runs his own consulting business which includes business advisory, accounting and board governance. He has previously been a partner in a firm of Chartered Accountants in London, been in various financial and general management roles and has spent the last fifteen years in a business advisory capacity. He has had experience in CA practices, importing and distribution, FMCG, logistics and freight forwarding, produce exporting and also in public floats and the sale and acquisition of private businesses. Bill is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). He has been involved in teaching Auditing, Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Finance, Strategy and International Business at under-graduate and post-graduate level at various tertiary institutions. He has also been involved in delivering MBA modules for both Henley Management College (UK) in New Zealand, Hong Kong and South Africa, the University of Auckland and Auckland University of Technology. He is closely involved with CAANZ’s professional accounting qualifications, being a workshop facilitator, examiner and examination marker as well as preparing study materials on various accounting topics.

Bill is the Finance Facilitator for our 3-Day Effective Director Programme and is one of our teaching faculty for the International Chartered Governance Programme.

Jo is a Women in Governance Award winner receiving the award for Not-for-Profit Governance Leader in 2021. An experienced consultant who has led a variety of projects and assignments, Jo is regularly asked to facilitate strategy sessions with leadership teams, coach emerging leaders and lead substantial policy, strategy and gender projects. Recent assignments include evaluating Sport NZ's gender equity in governance policy, leading sessions at APEC 2023 on gender equality in customs and border agencies, working with the New Zealand Defence Force's leadership team on the gender diversity of the forces, and completing a gender analysis of immigration policy. Jo was the previous Chief Executive of the Ministry forWomen.

One of the youngest Chief Executives ever appointed in the New Zealand Public Service, she has invested her time and energy in advancing the cause of the vulnerable in society, spearheading some of the most difficult issues of our time, including child abuse, child poverty, family violence and vulnerable women.
